Can I Change My Cancer Fighter Option?

  • Updated

Downgrading Your Cancer Fighter Option:

If you plan to downgrade your Cancer Fighter plan level and have no pending claims, you can do so by emailing our customer service team at least 30 days before the policy renewal date for approval. Once approved, the coverage adjustment will take effect in the following policy year. If you submit any claims before the new coverage takes effect, the downgrade request will automatically become invalid.

When downgrading, as long as the current plan’s used coverage amount does not exceed the new level's limit, you can change the Cancer Fighter plan without needing to undergo a new underwriting process.

Suppose you currently hold Cancer Fighter 300 (with lifetime coverage limit $3,000,000) and want to change your Cancer Fighter option to Cancer Fighter 200 (with lifetime coverage limit $2,000,000):
(a) If you have already used more than $2,000,000 of the coverage amount, you will not be able to change the option.
(b) If you have used less than $2,000,000 of the coverage amount, you can change the Cancer Fighter option without needing to undergo underwriting again, but you must submit your application to our customer service team at 3008-8123

Downgrade requests do not require new underwriting or additional proof of insurability, and the waiting period will not be recalculated (it will continue from the original plan’s effective date).

Please send a written request from your registered email address to cs@bowtie.com.hk at least 30 days before the next policy renewal date. Our customer service team will promptly follow up on your request, and the downgraded plan will take effect on the upcoming renewal date.

Upgrading Your Cancer Fighter Option:

However, if you plan to upgrade your Cancer Fighter option, as long as the lifetime limit does not exceed $3,000,000, you can apply for additional coverage online.

When reapplying, the insured must disclose their current health status. The application will be treated as a new policy, requiring new underwriting. We will assess whether the health status at the time is insurable, and the result may differ from the current plan. The waiting period will also be recalculated.
