I already have Bowtie VHIS or Cancer Insurance. Do I still need ‘Bowtie Critical Illness Insurance’?

  • Updated

The primary function of Bowtie VHIS and Cancer Insurance is to provide "reimbursement" for medical expenses, while ‘Bowtie Critical Illness Insurance’ provides a lump sum payment to cover living expenses if you are unable to work due to a critical illness. The two serve very different purposes. Here are our recommended combinations:

  1. Have Group Medical Insurance/Other Individual Health Insurance → Bowtie Pink + Critical Illness Insurance
You can use your group medical insurance/other individual health insurance to offset the deductible and get Bowtie Pink, which offers full reimbursement at a more affordable price, to cover your medical expenses. Bowtie Critical Illness Insurance, on the other hand, will cover your living expenses if you lose income due to a critical illness. To learn more about how deductibles work, you can read this article.
  2. No Group Medical Insurance/Other Individual Health Insurance → Bowtie VHIS Flexi Plan + Cancer Insurance + Critical Illness Insurance.
The Flexi Plan has a lower coverage amount, and a more affordable premium. However, the Flexi Plan has a benefit limit that may not be sufficient to cover cancer treatment costs. Cancer Insurance complements the Flexi Plan by covering cancer-related medical expenses, while, ‘Bowtie Critical Illness Insurance’ can help cover your living expenses.
