How do the two ICU-related compensations in the policy work?

The policy includes two types of ICU-related coverage:

  • ICU Admission Hospital Cash, $2,000 per day, up to 10 days:
Medically Necessary confinement at an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in Hong Kong for continuous period of 72 hours or more with the use of Invasive Life Support
  • Major Medical Treatment, lump-sum $500k coverage:
Medically Necessary Complex Surgery in Hong Kong due to an injury or illness condition, which directly or indirectly results in admission to Intensive Care Unit (ICU); and being treated with life supporting medical devices of 120 or more consecutive hours in post-surgical care.

In a medical event occurring at the same time, the insured person will only receive compensation for maximum $500k only

Example 1: If admitted to the ICU for 160 hours e, the insured person will only receive the one-time $500,000 compensation for major medical conditions.

Example 2: if admitted to the ICU for 96 hours, the insured person will receive 4 days of hospital cash compensation, meaning $8,000.
