Why are the critical illness definitions in Bowtie Children's Growth Term Critical Illness Insurance not exactly the same as those in Bowtie Critical Illness Insurance?

In Bowtie Children's Growth Term Critical Illness Insurance, we have adopted the latest critical illness definitions, which better align with current clinical diagnoses and research findings.

Taking "cancer" as an example, in the latest definition:

  1. Lymphoma and malignant sarcoma have been included in the definition now.
  2. According to the 8th edition of the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC), bladder cancer and prostate cancer with lower severity and less likelihood of causing serious impact on patients have been excluded.
  3. Based on the World Health Organization's (WHO) new classification of "neuroendocrine tumors," cancers with lower severity and less likelihood of causing serious impact on patients have been excluded.
  4. Tumors specified as "benign," "borderline," and "low malignant potential" in cancer pathology reports have been excluded. These types of tumors have a low possibility of spreading or recurring, are not considered carcinomas, and are less likely to cause serious impact on patients.

  5. Although the coverage scope hasn't changed, the definition of "Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL)" has been rewritten to better align with other insurance companies' wording.

These changes do not mean we have raised the threshold for claims. Every insurance company has the responsibility to update critical illness definitions based on the latest clinical diagnoses and research findings to ensure that insured persons receive appropriate payout.
